Scottish Country Dancing

Back in early October, a older Scottish couple from our church invited us to come Scottish Country Dancing with them. We really enjoy this couple and so decided to take the plunge and give it a try. It was so fun. Apparently a (rather large) group of folks gather once a month (in a marvelous hall on the campus of a prestigious boys' school) to practice their dancing skills in preparation for twice yearly balls. It was fabulous--the teacher was so helpful and gave such good instructions and we always seemed to be in sets with very patient and helpful people. We learned about 5 dances, the most difficult being the Duke of Perth. After the dancing concluded, we enjoyed meeting and visiting with some of the other guests who welcomed us so warmly. We were so sad to miss the November class (we were in Dublin), but have it marked (in pen) in our diaries so we can keep practicing in preparation for the March ball, to which Joe will be wearing a kilt!! Love it, love it, love it.

  2. Is this the same dancing you saw in the street at Princes Gardens? (I am reading these blogs out of sequence.) I really have to have a picture of Joe in a kilt, Grandma Annie would be proud. LOL
