Sheep's Heid

Back in May, our friend Jeremy turned 30. In honor of this milestone birthday, he and his wife (the amazing Katy) planned a fabulous Edinburgh party.

Just to the south of Arthur's seat, on the east side of town, is an old Scottish Pub called the Sheep's Heid Inn. This local pub is said to be the oldest pub in all of Scotland (possibly England as well), dating back to 1360.

In the back of this pub is a two lane skittles alley where guests can play a few games of skittles (an ancestor of bowling, using 9 pins and smaller, heavy balls with no holes). It was a fun evening of good food, good friends, and good sport!

Down the Alley

No automatic resetting here; brave souls stand at the end,
retrieve and return your ball, and clear or reset the pins!

And, after a few games, we headed up for an evening hike of Arthur's seat, too in some spectacular views of the city and the Firth of Forth at sunset, and enjoyed a birthday toast!

Jeremy, it was a great birthday! Thanks for sharing it with us (several months ago!).
