They're here!

Today, at exactly 6:48pm, we had a special delivery--our VISAs! The British Consulate apparently saw fit to grant us permission to live, study, and work in their country from September 1, 2009 through December 31, 2013. This is great news as we have been a little worried about the visa application process.

Now that this big hurdle has been cleared, we are going to start working on moving arrangements, travel plans, job search, and apartment (flat) hunting. Right now our plan is to work in St. Louis through the end of August with plans to move our things from St. Louis on August 31. My parents have generously agreed to let us store our things in their house while we are gone, so we will spend a few days with them before flying from DC to Edinburgh on September 7. I have two job interviews set up for that first week we are there and we are probably going to wait to look for a flat until we can get there and see things ourselves. We'll keep you posted as the plans unfold.

With only 53 days left in the US we are also looking forward to spending time with our family and friends. We had a great week last week with my family at Lake Michigan, have some great friends coming to see us this weekend, and are looking forward to spending time with Joe's family over the next few weekends.

I think it is going to be a busy 6 or so weeks!

  1. Oh, it seems too real now! We are going to miss you guys.
I'm glad, though, that you can breathe a little easier now that you have your visas.
